STEM

The STEM Living-Learning Community (LLC) is a collaborative new community, sponsored by the College of Natural and Mathematical Sciences and supported by the STEMBUILD at UMBC initiative. UMBC’s newest LLC offers science, technology, engineering, and mathematical (STEM) majors opportunities to engage in and strengthen their undergraduate experience through a series of student planned activities on and off campus that are organized around a science theme.

What to expect from the STEM LLC:

  • Exposure to other STEM majors
  • Diverse perspectives
  • Upper-class peer mentoring
  • Service opportunities involved in the biomedical/behavioral sciences
  • Assistance with academic and career planning
  • Encouragement in cultural and artistic appreciation

To Apply:

New Incoming First-Year Students:

  • Complete the LLC Application within the Residential Life Housing Application by May 1st. You may preference up to 3 LLCs in the LLC Application. (LINK TO APPLICATION)

Current UMBC Residential Students:

  • Complete the Residential Life Housing Application by the published Housing Selection deadline AND contact the LLC Coordinator directly to seek permission to return to the LLC. Space is limited to current STEM LLC students who have accepted a STEM LLC peer mentor position.
